In 2009, Jolanda and Rowan met at an Italian restaurant in Rhenen. She had been working there as a waitress for years alongside her teacher training studies, while he had just started there as a chef and pizza baker.
A shared passion for Italy, Italian cuisine, and the hospitality industry soon emerged. For years, Rowan and Jolanda dined out together at various restaurants, tasting dishes, reviewing menus, and drawing inspiration for their shared dream: starting their own Italian restaurant.
In May 2021, that dream became a reality when they took over San Mario’s.
Finally, Rowan was able to shape his knowledge and ideas in his own restaurant. Every day, he personally selects fresh products to guarantee the quality and flavor of our dishes. He particularly wants to see and feel the meat himself. This ensures the highest quality in our kitchen. With a focus on pure ingredients, Rowan brings the taste of Italy to your plate.
After working in education for 13 years, Jolanda chose to focus entirely on the service staff and the organization within the restaurant. With her talent for planning, design, and creation, she leads the team and continuously works on the guest experience.
At San Mario’s, Jolanda and Rowan want guests to enjoy fresh dishes, a relaxed atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. For them, dining out is not just about good food, but primarily about enjoying time together and feeling welcome. They take pleasure in seeing guests at San Mario’s experience the Italian flavors, passion, hospitality, and conviviality that they work on with love every day.

We can be reached by telephone daily between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. After 5:00 PM, you can select option 2 to inquire if a table is still available for that evening.
